Raised Goal

The aim of the project is to provide employment opportunities for unemployed young women and to enable them to financially support their families through the development of innovative technologies derived to enhance the home-based Kasra industry.

Kasra is a traditional Sudanese flat bread made from sorghum flour and is considered to be a nutritious first food commonly consumed by a majority of Sudanese families. The kasra industry is one of the most familiar household industries and provides a source of income for many families. Recent years have witnessed the development of several innovations which have helped to meet the national demand for this popular consumer product. As such, Saj al-Ezz has found great popularity among women due to its ease of use and affordability. In addition, Saj Al Ezz relies on a simple source of gas instead of firewood. The concept of the project enables ownership of Saj El-Ezz for young, female breadwinners who work in the "kasra" industry and are making a real difference in the lives of their families and communities.
